RESIGN: The SIX SODELPA MPs who have pleaded NOT GUILTY to the charges that they fiddled travel expenses MUST resign from Parliament. Yes, innocent until proven guilty, but the PUBLIC must have trust in MPs

25/1/2021

Under the skewered d'Hondt Electoral System SODELPA will be able to replace the SIX facing serious charges which undermines public trust in them and their continued presence in Parliament

DENIERS: Remember FLP leader Mahendra Pal Chaudhry refused to step down as Bainimarama's Interim Finance Minister, claiming he did NOT receive a single cent from HARYANA. He was later exposed and convicted of currency violations. Chaudhry was hiding $2million in AUSTRALIA. He also refused to reveal the source of his funds in a New Zealand bank account which allegedly stood at $400,000 in 2004. These days Chaudhry is presented as someone who is not afraid to speak out against Bainimarama and Khaiyum. Of course, he is NOT. Because he was up there, with the two, strengthening their strangehold on Fiji, and is privy to all their dirty and corrupt secrets. Signed $230,000 'BackPay Leave' Cheque to Frank Bainimarama, claiming it was due for 30 years

UPDATE: We have been reliably informed that the acting Parliament Secretary General, Viniana Namosimalua, who is Sitiveni Rabuka's niece, was recently relieved of her position because initially she had resisted repeated requests from the Auditor-General's Office to report the MPs to FICAC. On 6 December 2020, we had endorsed and had defended her reporting the MPs to FICAC

The six SODELPA MPs, Adi Litia Qionibaravi, Ratu Suliano Matanitobua, Niko Nawaikula, Salote Radrodro, Simione Rasova and Peceli Vosanibola are each charged with one count of giving false information to a public servant and one count of obtaining a financial advantage. It is alleged that they gave false information to the Parliament Secretary General, Viniana Namosimalua, while claiming for allowances. The nature of the complaint alleges that these MPs claimed travel and accommodation allowances they were not entitled to. The case had been adjourned to 25th January this year. The six SODELPA parliamentarians each pleaded not guilty before Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili in the Suva Magistrates Court. Former FijiFirst parliamentarian Vijendra Prakash, who is accused of falsely claiming $33,000 in travel allowance, will enter his plea on 9 February. FICAC lawyers have indicated that they intend to make an application for the cases to be transferred to the Fiji High Court. They have been given seven days to make the applications by Ratuvili. All cases have been adjourned to 9 February 2021
