He should if he is a man of integrity. If you are a man of integrity you don't want to be party to the farce that Bainimarama and Khaiyum have perpetrated on the people of Fiji.

The electoral arrangements made by Khaiyum as the Minister for elections whilst he was at the same time the secretary of the Fiji First Party and the elections held under these not free and fair circumstances was in fact a fraud on the nation.
It is regrettable that some very good men who have a history of standing up for democracy in Fiji were cynically manipulated by Khaiyum to give credibility to his fraudulent enterprise of creating a " new " Fiji.

If Vijay Naidu has resigned as Election Commissioner than that's good for him. He can now do something more useful like going fishing or watching a film like Mutiny on the Buses. One of the main characters in this British comedy who gave a sterling performance in the film died yesterday. May he rest in peace. Thank you for all the laughs !

The General secretary of FFP ( AG Khaiyum) appointed the Elections Commission.He is also the Minister Of Elections.He also appointed the so called Independent post of Supervisor of Elections (his cousin Saneem).The SOE than effectively (on the advise of AG) over ruled any decision made by the Commission.So they are there as rubber stamps only until Naidu decided to leave.He had no say in the circus,anyway.The remaining members keep shut,enjoy the allowances and tow the line.

I agree with Kamlesh Prasad's analysis. Vijay Naidu is sincere. He genuinely wants a better Fiji for all its citizens. That's why he accepted appointment as Election Commissioner thinking he could contribute towards the making of a better Fiji for all. His was a misplaced trust in Aiyaz Khaiyum an old mate of his. Khaiyum is not sincere. Khaiyum is not about building a better Fiji. Khaiyum was about how he and his political puppet Bainimarama could hang onto power. He devised the election system and appointment the SOE his cousin as Kamlesh informs us to THAT end and of course this cynical manipulated roped in the likes of respectable people like Vijay Naidu to give credibility to his scheme and an air of independence that was never there. Vijay Naidu if he has resigned has realised this belatedly.

Its no big deal if the resignation is based on integrity and sincerity since the man does have other interests in life that he wishes to pursue. So all the best to Vijay on his future endeavors.
