RESIGNATIONS at Fiji Foreign Ministry: Robin Nair resigns as Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs but so has Filimone Waqabaca - who has prematurely resigned as the Fiji's High Commissioner to New Zealand

Fijileaks: Why has Waqabaca resigned, an able, well regarded, highly acclaimed native Fijian economist with great leadership skills and not so long ago touted as next Governor of the Reserve Bank of Fiji until he was pushed out as the Permanent Secretary of Finance?

Filimone Waqabaca as a Head of the Reserve Bank of Fiji. U must be joking. Good riddance. He was never any good anyway since he was a student at USP. He's leaderdhip of the FRU has set rugby back decades. Best is for him to return to his island In Lau to plant kumala and fish to feed his family. As for Robin Nair he did the right thing by quitting. No one with any brains can survive in his position

A sad day for democracy if able and efficient and dedicated people are being sidelined due to government pressure.

Editor,
A Leader The People Just Want Gone.
In the biggest political protest in years over 50,000 people from civil society, NGOs, religious organisations, trade unions and pro- democracy groups marched through South African cities to demand president Jacob Zuma's resignation ( Aljazeera 7/4 ).
Nobel Laureate and anti- apartheid leader Desmond Tutu 85, and frail health, made a rare public appearance to support the protest outside Cape Town.
One protester summed up how they felt about the South African leader, " people just want Zuma gone " .
His corruption and disrespect for the constitution and the ideals of the ANC has reached a point where it has become TOO MUCH for the people to bare. Hence the call for Zuma to step down.
What a contrast to Nelson Mandela who stepped down as president even though the people wanted him to stay on.
A corrupt, unfit leader like Zuma has no shame . That's why he insists on staying on even though the people want him gone.
But he is merely procrastinating the inevitable.
Sincerely,
Rajend Naidu

Because opportunities in Papua New Guinea are far more lucrative and stable.
