One Hundred Sands Limited has until 4pm this afternoon to respond to the government as to why their exclusive casino licence should not be cancelled.
Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has written to the developers demanding answers amidst constant delays to the casino project which is yet to begin at its new site.
Sayed-Khaiyum says they will await a response from One Hundred Sands Limited this afternoon before making a decision on the future of the casino.
“We have written to them to show cause as to why we should not cancel the licence that we gave to them and they have to respond by 4pm this afternoon. There are obviously a number of other milestones they did not achieve so we hope to hear from them by 4pm this afternoon.”
One Hundred Sands Limited has also failed to pay the penalty of $US 100,000 every month since March this year. The casino development was originally scheduled to open in October 2013. The construction of the project hasn’t started at its new site before the Denarau Bridge.
