Frank Bainimarama did not mention his own treasonous coup of 2006!

Earlier, he told the Australia Fiji Business Forum that he was, in particular, delighted that travel bans on him had been lifted but he will not lift travel ban on Professor Briji Lal and his wife, living in Australia!

Editor,
Addressing the gathering in Sydney celebrating Fiji Day PM Voreqe Bainimarama " invited " Fijians living there to return to Fiji " to invest in the country of their birth and help the Government build the new Fiji".
'( ' Fijians in Australia celebrate Fiji Day' Fiji Times 17/10 ).
Obviously the invitation does not include all Fijians as the Fijileaks points out.
Professor Brij Lal is not invited . Why not? Isn't Fiji the country of his birth? Is he banned from the country because Bainimarama and his Government don't , to use the words of X Factor judge, internationally acclaimed singer and former British military officer James Blunt, " Don't Take Criticisn Well ". So just what kind of new Fiji is Bainimarama and his gang in government building?
In Stephen Mooney's letter Bendigo Mosque: Be Thankful We Have The Freedom To Demonstrate ( The Age 18/10 ) he proudly declares that " freedom of speech is alive and well in Australia ".
Can Fijians in Bainimarama and Khaiyum's new Fiji also say that ?
The journalists in the Fiji Sun and all the sycophantic supporters of the Fiji First Party need not respond.
Sincerely,
Rajend Naidu

U R Right. Can all Fijians of Fiji First Party repeat what Bainimarama said to Fijians' in Australia?

After all they know how to block vote so it is high time Bainimarama has his Fijian MP's repeat after him in Parliament to apologise to the victims of 1987 and 2000 coup and then have that voted in parliament with opposition having a chance to endorse this.

What is the point of PM to make statements that means nothing unless there is a clear process to this sort of apologies.

Military must also make a formal apology with their parliamentary presentation to this process.

You do this and then see how the former Fijians come supporting Fiji the country of their birth.

What about that Australian padre Father Kevin Barr who has invested years of his life helping to build a better Fiji and improving the standard of living of the poor and vulnerable - why was he subjected to abuse and swearing etc by Frank Bainiimarama? Just because he took a view that Bainimarama did not like?

Selective Invitation Alright! Read between the lines Bhaiya. Only the overseas Fijians who are prepared to sing the praise of Bainimarama's government to high heaven and fill the coffers of his Fiji First Theft Party are welcome back with open arms and salusalu.
But Bhaiya remember it's like feeding milk to the snake. No matter how much you give the snake will still bite you!

Handfull of people protest during Fiji Day celebrations in Sydney because they can - without any fear of Bainimarama or his henchmen in the Fijian military and police.
Was any protest held in Fiji? A Sydney protest placard reads " there's no human rights in Fiji". That's true notwithstanding Fiji's purported return to democracy via a rigged election with all stakes loaded in favour of Bainimarama's Fiji First Theft Party. So why no protest in Fiji?
We all know why...

I think Brij is better off in Australia anyway. Fiji has nothing to offer this exceptional scholar and proud son of Tabia. Australia's gain is Fiji's loss

Did Brij stand by the constitution he helped draft or was he singing Bai's tune after it was abrogated?

So why Brij remains suspended?

Know what? The pain and struggle of self-censoring year in and year out is pure torture. Torture which kills.Suicides, mental anguish enduring for years on end through fear, arbitrary governance especially chronic uncertainty produce heart attacks, strokes and eventually despair. No point trying to disguise this: to do so is to inflict yet more anguish and to strangle The Truth. Truth LIVES - never doubt this fact. Truth will out and eventually set us all free. "Now there are things we MUST say"! God Bless James Blunt. Long may he prosper!

Editor,
The Morning Show on Channel 7 this morning featured a live interview with Dr Joseph Burgo the author of the book The Narcissist You Know: Defending Yourself Against Extreme Narcissists in an All-About-Me Age released on 22/09/15.. Dr Burgo has been quoted or featured as an expert clinical psychologist in publications such as USA TODAY,Glamour, The New York Times and numerous other publications.
In his interview Dr Burgo talks about the different narcissistic personality types and how they can be identified.
When he said the characteristic of the bullying narcissist was his obsession with persecuting people I immediately had some candidates in mind.
Reverent Akuila Yabaki the retired executive officer of the CCF would know who these extreme narcissists are.

The Fiji Day Celebrations in Sydney was organised by the Fiji First Party through its Australian branch - Fiji First Australia Association Incorporated. This has been confirmed through a message from Luke Foley, MP, Member for Auburn printed in the Fiji Independence Celebration 2015 souvenir magazine edited by one Gita Chandra (Accredited Financial Consultant - GM Financial Solutions). Those who contribute to the magazine include the creepyKantilal Jina, a Canberra based Fiji First supporter and staunch Bainimarama supporter. I also noticed a piece from opportunist academic Satendra Nandan who stated "The Fijian Constitution is Fiji's most ingenious invention and deserves the deepest respect and recognition by the well-wishers of Fiji and the Fijians",what a load of rubbish from a lackey academic with no substance. The issue here is that the FFP has stooped ridicoulously low and now using key government agendas like the Fiji Independence celebrations to pursue its own political agenda and strengthen its networking. They also brought their full entourage including officials from the Ministry of Land, Itaukei Affairs and Department of Immigration...good trip for the civil servants and critical political mileage gained for the FFP party.

This Satendra Bhikari Nandan must first pay his own debt of 1987 for the FLP banner that he refused to pay $300 only because the coup happened, so he decided he will bleed people who he paid others to do his banners. Maybe old FLP culture.

This Nandan fellow basically is telling people the Constitution Review he was part of was FAKED and Khaiyum is the MAN.

Fiji is under baikhayum dictatorship - so why should l return? Bai is stupid. His military brutalized many indo-fijians during coups from 1987 and they are now holding top positions. Indians have thick heads and don't realize how military tortured many Indians. Bai was doing all this from behind scenes and later sent same military to stop the torture. Every word of baikhayum is lie. Stop asking people to return.

Editor,
When I read the Fiji Times article ' PM : Be Patriotic ' this morning 19/10 for some reason the words of the celebrated British man of letters, Samuel Johnson ( 1709 - 1784 ) crossed my mind. He said on the evening of 7 April 1775 the famous words " Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel" as a critique of what he regarded as false patriotism - the kind used by the ruling mob to bolster their grip on power.
The PM Voreqe Bainimarama is reported as saying "... The fact that you were made to feel unwelcome in your country of birth is the most shameful episode in our nation's history".
That is true.
I made that as a key part of my submission to the first Constitutional Review Commission set up after the first military coup of 1987.
Frank Bainimarama was in the Fijian military responsible for that " shameful episode".
Therefore his statement rings rather hollow. If that same statement came from a non Fiji military man the victims of the military coups in Fiji could accept it as more genuine and sincere.
The PM's ban on Professor Brij Lal from entering the country of his birth makes renders his statement a political stunt.
Sincerely,
Rajend Naidu

La Esmeralda - Chilean naval training ship. Chile now has once more a President who is a woman who understands well the legacy and the depths of trauma resulting from military coups. Her own father was murdered. Years of Los Desaparecidos - a euphemism for the 'disappeared' into General Pinochet's prisons or execution sites. Madame Bachelet knows the role of this 'training' vessel. Do we suffer from its terrible legacy ..... Still?

Forget about "being patriotic" if one doesn't allow any fellow countryman who is persona-non-grata for their opinions or actions.

Apology not worth accepting unless Frankie allows those in exile to return free of persecution or harassment, especially Brij Lal who seems to be doing well in Australia.

That is truly a "shameful episode" as read in today's Fiji Times LEU section.
