'SHEIKHING' With Disbelief: Fijileaks readers want to know WHY Foreign Minister Kubuabola did not have ROBIN NAIR, Fiji's ambassador to UAE, in the country, during recent visit of UAE FM Sheikh Abdulla Al Nahyan!

After all, it is normal customary gesture, particularly when Nair worked so hard after his appointment, to get Fiji on the radar in Gulf states; Nair is also credited with pulling off the release of the 45 Al Nusra captive Fijian soldiers. There is something really rotten in Inoke Kubuabola's Ministry of Foreign Affairs-led by the former leader of I-Taukei Movement!

SATURATED COVERAGE: We read accolades about the visit and the strength of the relationship between Fiji and UAE, in the Fiji media for three consecutive days. It is unprecedented during a visit of only a Foreign Minister. In their hysteria, even Fiji Sun's Nemani Delaibatiki failed to point out Nair's absence in his analysis piece on 17 February!

FRANK BAINIMARAMA: "From a desert, one or two generations ago, the people of the United Arab Emirates have built a nation that is the envy of the world. They have, for instance, built one of the world’s great airlines and they are helping to lead the search for renewable energy sources to produce a cleaner and greener world. In fact, they are providing solar power projects to light up some of Fiji’s outer islands- Kadavu, Lakeba and Rotuma. Sheikh Abdullah’s visit follows closely on the heels of those of the Presidents of China and Indonesia and the Prime Minister of India. We Pacific Islanders no longer only go to them. They also come to us as honoured guests. So who can doubt that Fiji stands taller and prouder in the world today than it ever has before?."

Fijileaks:
Why was Robin Nair left behind in the United Arab Emirates?

THE RACIST FACE OF FIJI'S FOREIGN MINISTRY despite Bainimarama's claims of equality: "When these great Leaders arrive here on our shores, I want them to stand before a flag that is wholly ours. That is a symbol of our nation, not someone else’s. While our political opponents continually summon up the past, the FijiFirst Government has its eyes firmly on the future. We know that greatness lies over the horizon if we maintain the course we have set – One Fiji with opportunity and justice for all,"

Robin Nair has just posted a comment on your blog post, 'SHEIKHING' With Disbelief: Fijileaks readers want to know WHY Foreign Minister Kubuabola did not have ROBIN NAIR, Fiji's ambassador to UAE, in the country, during recent visit of UAE FM Sheikh Abdulla Al Nahyan!,

"Your entry has been drawn to my attention. I hope I am the first to comment. At the risk of inviting all my detractors from having a go at me, I nevertheless wish to respond. I am in Abu Dhabi running an Embassy with an accreditation to 11 other countries besides the UAE. I was fully involved with the visit of the Foreign Minister of the UAE. I had no reason to be in Fiji for the visit with a whole Ministry in Fiji to handle the visit. I otherwise have a full agenda on my plate. Besides, I have a large military delegation in Abu Dhabi led by a Minister. I have been involved in developing the military relationship with the UAE. My presence here in Abu Dhabi was warranted. I enjoy the confidence of my Minister."

All is not bad but......Fijileaks did a headcount of Fijians, of the Indo-Fijian types, in the Ministry of Foreign affairs, recently and surprised us with the statistics of racial imbalance that exists in this Ministry -with a Minister with a known racist past. Only Indo-Fijians there were 'connected' ones (Lodia for one).

Hopefully, you'd be able to stress on your Minister to give-up his old ways and embrace the ideals of racial equality, so prevalent in the 'new' Fiji.

Another thing, Mr. Nair is that People of Fiji are grateful for your excellent diplomatic skills and your input towards the release of our soldiers from those very bad terrorists in Golan Heights - Thank You.

And also Thank you for posting in Fijileaks - You see,Fijileaks is constructive criticism and raw feelings of the Fijians globally -which if taken seriously would do good to our government.

Yes, very much appreciated ambassador Nair for your timely clarification on the matter and on this fijileaks forum. It is good to know the minister has full confidence in you and of course vice versa.

Once you are able to find some time, ambassador, if you could also enlighten us whether minister Kubuabola could play a more important role for government given his vast experience. Comments by the minister regarding election rigging by Kaiyum to get to the key position and not utilising the vast experience of others in cabinet is somewhat of a concern.

Also, ambassador, given that you had to come to this site to provide clarifications regarding an important matter , whether there is room for improvement in terms of dissemination of truth from the Fiji media. Is there a way to minimise damage control on governance issues?

It is obvious your background and international perspective on matters is helping and how could that quality and perspective come about in individuals like Dr Mahendra Reddy, Ashwin Raj , Ganesh Chand and others who have been avoiding to give answers on specific questions put to them by fijileaks. Readers have been waiting for those answers.

Well done, ambassador Nair!

I wonder what the large military delegation is doing in Abu Dhabi ?

Another taxpayer funded jaunt ?

Couldnt they just video - conference ?

A huge military delegation is very logical and appropriate. The boys in the military are getting their due rewards for their loyal support for their ex-commander and coup leader who is now the PM via a State managed "democratic" election which has preserved the status quo.

Fijileaks you are stilled trapped in the old way of viewing things in Fiji politics, hence you ' The racist face of Fiji's foreign ministry'. Don't you know fiji no longer has any races. Only Fijian citizens who have all become equal after Bainimarama and Khaiyum declared them to be so. Now one no longer needs a racial lens to see what is happening in Fiji . All the equal non racial citizens of utopia Fiji are very happy and will soon start wearing bula shirts and skirts and sulus full time with a bula smile permanently on their face.

...and then the others wearing the bula skirt will eventually get their skirt pulled up and kicked in the ass. And what did your honourable PM say before the election when journos asked him about why he is refusing to have a debate with Biman on economy. His reply "He is an Indian and should be grateful to me that he has not been kicked out". Oh, yeah he was not "honourable " then. Right?

Smell a rat??
The speed of clarification by Nair raises a few questions whether that article has been engineered by him to make him look good all round. Don't forget he is beneficiary of Kubuabola's of personal friendship. An Aussie citizen appointed Fiji's Ambassador? That is a farce, especially after Nair with his good friend John Samy were kicked out by Frank during Fiji's consultations on the road map. Nair should also clarify some of his own issues with the Fiji Embassy, like use of funds and using his powers to get work permits in UAE for 'certain' special individuals.

Very well said Mr Nair, we are proud of you and we know your calibre and the job you do for all the 12 countries. You are the best Ambassador Fiji ever had. Your presence and efforts in that area is an example to the other ambassadors. Yes, we Indians have always been discriminated and are always left behind as they are worried about our capabilities. With Mr Nair's and Mr Karan's effort, the country can see and feel the difference they have made to a small nation like Fiji. Keep up the good work Mr Nair, we will be heard and seen.

Another Indian we all Indians should be proud of is Aiyaz -because he is the ONE who has the chabi (key) to the fat puppet...Hickery Decree Dock!

Clever that one but also not forget in our list of honour, 'darktar' Ganesh and darktar Randy Reddy.

It is good to know that Robin Nair updates himself with better news on Fijileaks rather than relying on the Fiji Sun. But Robin can tell us more on the story about the soldiers capture and release by the al-Nusra rebels in Golan Heights. There are so many puzzling pieces to the story that still requires clarification. How were they captured and what about the soldier's weapons? Who gave the $20m ransom and what were the conditions was it a gift or loan? Surely Ambassador Nair could clear this up.
