SODELPA MP Bulitavu to Brown: "You should return to Fiji and answer the charges levelled against you...we were abused under your watch"

SODELPA MP Mosese Bulitavu says Henry Brown is a coward and he must return to Fiji if he has some b***s. He must learn the meaning of courage and try to conquer his fear. "We went through the abuse and threats under his custody but we used our mental strength and resilience to overcome it. He was suppose to protect us but became our oppressor but I have forgiven him even after he denied Jagath's [Karunaratne] claim in court. He [Brown] now has a taste of his own medicine and hope from now he will not treat others like s**t."

He told Chief Magistrate, Usaia Ratuvili that Brown had said to his officers that when his beaten up black and blue, Karunaratne would not know what to do. Karunaratne further claimed in court that Brown had also said that he will be hung upside-down by a telephone wire and he will not be sitting as he is sitting. DPP lawyer Lisiate Fotofili then put to Karunarate that he has fabricated these things but Karunaratne maintained that he was threatened and intimidated by Police officers while in custody.

If what MP Bulitavu says about Brown is true then it is indeed poetic justice that Brown is now running away in fear of the mob in power whose system of state oppression and repression he enforced ruthlessly.
I am not a religious type but in the manner of conventionally speaking Brown's demise is a classic case of God bringing a power drunk State operative with a puffed up chest down to earth again . Brown no doubt now realises belatedly that he too is a mere mortal like the ordinary citizens he subjected to State power abuse.
The Mara fala from the military who fled to Tonga has already had that realisation much earlier.
Who will be next?

Editor,
Here is a political story with a pleasant difference : a peaceful transfer of power from military to civilian rule.
We learn from LAHT article ' Myanmars Old Military Led Parliament Bids Farewell With A Party ' ( 31/01 ) that Myanmar has marked decades of military rule with a party, as lawmakers old and new celebrated the historic power transfer with karaoke and dancing.
A jubilant atmosphere filled the parliament on Friday as military backed MPs whose seats were lost to Aung San Sui Kyi and her National League for Democracy party in Novembers landmark elections accepted their fall from power with a smile.
Some took to the stage with songs while others chose to dance to end their time in power with a dance. And the outgoing MPs weren't alone .
As Sui Kyi's lawmakers prepared to rake their seats for the first time on Monday they too joined in the festivities with song and dance and shared jokes.
As he bid farewell to parliament the military strongman Thein Sein renewed his pledge to oversee a peaceful transfer of power saying
" it is a victory for Myanmar and its people".
Sounds so " Pacific Way " this peaceful transfer of power with a karaoke and dance party.
We don't see that kind of power transfer all that much in some Pacific island countries these days unfortunately.
Sincerely,
Rajend Naidu
