SODELPA RIFT: As party scrambles to project UNITED face it emerges from Management Board records that Ro Kepa's application for party leader had arrived after the closing date; Rabuka was BETRAYED!

THE SIX CONTENDERS FOR SODELPA PARTY LEADERSHIP RACE:

LAST year the former coupist, prime minister and SVT party leader SITIVENI RABUKA had thrown his hat into the ring to become the new SODELPA leader.

Now, it emerges that Rabuka was cruelly betrayed by his own new found party of choice - SODELPA. What has also emerged, supported by Sodelpa Management Board documents, is evidence that Ro Kepa's application for party leader arrived after the closing date.

She could not meet the deadline because of alleged financial difficulties which a leading party supporter reportedly resolved on her behalf.

The then Sodelpa party president Ratu Silivenusi Waqausa decided to widen the candidacy net and extended the time line after the application for party leader was closed to allegedly accommodate Ro Kepa. Waqausa, who is from Bau, has traditional ties with Ro Kepa.

The applications that arrived on time were that of Sitiveni Rabuka, Ratu Meli Saukuru, Tupeni Baba, Ratu Jone Kubuabola and Anare Jale.

PictureThe Selection Panel team
Waqausa, Adi Litia Qionibaravi and former prime minister Laisenia Qarase were the panel of selectors.

The rest is history. A sustained campaign, led by Sodepla's youth and women's wings, was launched against Rabuka which saw his hopes dashed for any prominent or constructive role in the party.

Waqausa than called Adi Litia, Savenaca Kamikamica and two other Sodelpa members to meet him at the Fiji Club. During the meeting Waqausa allegedly informed Adi Litia that he had talked with the rest of the applicants and "they have voluntarily withdrawn their applications to allow Ro Kepa to be party leader, except Anare Jale".

Waqausa asked Kamikamica to facilitate a veisorosorovi with Jale's Nasinu constituency for Ro Kepa to ask Jale to withdraw. "If Jale was withdrawing or not he still would not stand because of the residency stand down period."

This was how Ro Kepa, according to Fijileaks sources, became SODELPA party leader. "No transparent interview that was to be merit based just vakavanua style".

After elections, the CBM MP's were hosted by Rabuka and another former MP for a grog session to congratulate the newly elected MPs. During the grog session, Rabuka asked Anasa Vocea (who was managing SODELPA campaign and candidate application with Election Office) why he was removed as candidate for SODELPA? Vocea allegedly claimed that Waqausa was the person selecting the party leader and the party decided who was on the final list.

Those present at this gathering have informed Fijileaks that Rabuka said the party never wrote back to him on their decision on party leader and only announced its support on the protest which GS (Tabaiwalu) was fully endorsing in the media release.

The sources claim other financial irregularities occurred after Ro Kepa became leader, which will be subject of further investigation by Fijileaks.

This will, however, be a matter put on the floor by CBM SODELPA at this Saturday's annual general meeting before motions on party constitution and party vice-president will be moved. CBM SODELPA will move Rabuka to be vice-president, for his membership was reactivated on 15/06/2015 with SODELPA Cakaudrove constituency receipt Number 020301.

Fijileaks could not obtain comments on the above allegations.

From Fijileaks Archive:

Picture
His political fate was sealed, and gave fuel to his opponents, when party leader Ro Teimumu Kepa herself, on 15 April, vehemently objected to Rabuka's membership of the party, citing his treasonous coups of 1987. Fair enough but what about the former convict Tui Cakau, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, who fiercely lobbied for Rabuka to represent Sodelpa from Cakaudrove!

Sitiveni Rabuka has apologized for his 1987 coups and gave to Fiji, along with Jai Ram Reddy, the negotiated 1997 Constitution of Fiji, unlike the present lot who are holding election under their imposed 2013 Constitution and Decrees.

Good luck to Major-General Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka, who reminds us: “Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future.”

Oddly, while the party is exhibiting a moral high ground against coups (Rabuka) it has no qualm in taking on Frank Bainimarama at the polls. They would have earned respect if they had boycotted the election on the grounds that by not participating in the election they are not legitimizing Bainimarama's treasonous coup.

I am puzzled by FijiLeaks support for Rabuka, the founding father of Fiji's coups !!

Although he has shed crocodile tears, there's never been a full disclosure by him of all relevant matters and neither has there been any restitution by him considering all the pain and suffering caused by him and his gang. !!

Jeez it gets even more amusing! So this process started with fraud! Wow thats a new low even for her. So all her so called publicity stunts that she was not interested in the position in the media leading up to the elections was just a facade? Not surprised at all. This new revelation is something even we the close associates of Sodelpa did not know! For a 70 year old woman...she has the gumption to lie straight faced! Rabuka should not resign. He is wanted by popular demand!! If we took a vote now between Kepa and Rabuka for Sodelpa Leader, the 70 year old Lady would loose hands down!

Rabuka had his day, and if we are honest, it was not a good one for the people of Fiji, nothing he did and nothing he has said since provides a base for thinking he would be any better in future.
The people of Fiji, the tax payers, (even the poorest who pay VAT are tax payers) are contributing in part to Rabuka’s pension, he should be grateful for that..
The people of Fiji need and deserve an intelligent leader with integrity, foresight, ability and proven honesty , Rabuka is not that person.

Rabuka is not that person, but Ratu Jone Kubuabola could be, and it is highly improbable he would have permitted the current budget balance fiasco.

The destruction of $300 million in taxpayer owned National Bank of Fiji happened under the "prudential supervision" of the Reserve Bank of Fiji which at the relevant time was headed by Ratu Jone Yavala Kubuabola.

If you look around there is no one credible person that has the stature and the mindset to be a good opposition leader
Fiji has lost most of the Fijian educated elite who just got fed up with the system
Back in the Mara days he had credible people in cabinet who could speak intelligently on issues and the same could be said for the opposition who had intelligent people who could think in their feet and provide a credible opposition
These days when you look at both sides you see all opportunist and no one that really stands out as credible
Thus the FFP government feeds on this void and rules accordingly
Even during the Rabuka coup you had intelligent opposition leaders like Reddy, MPC, Harish Sharma, Navin Maharaj, Baba, who took on the wrath of Rabuka
During the Bainimara coup gutless leaders like Ro Kepa, Qarase caved in and never opposed Bainimarama which gave him a free hand to consolidate power and legislate however he pleased and now that the system of government and the constitution is up and running people like Ro Kepa and Lalalbalvu are now trying to oppose, sorry but it will be a difficult road as the bus or the train has left the station
Nevertheless the fight must continue so that we get decency and true democracy back to the homeland Fiji
Fiji cannot afford another coup and Mark my words the next coup will be wise and bloody and a Fijian nationalist style coup Fijians vs Fijians and pitted and squeezed in the middle will be the Indians who will be worse off if there is another nationalistic coup as they will suffer for supporting the Bainimara coup
The show continues.....

Good one Victor. Ro Teimumu Kepa is not a good leader. There definately is rift and divide between Kepa and her team in Parliament and she should answer to all allegations of inconsistencies in funds. She loses the plot when she makes personal attacks on her oppozition and does not stick to important issues. Kuboubola would have been gud leader hands down.

The problem with Victor is that for him not a single Fijian Leader alive now, not a single politician, and not a single professional - accountant, lawyer, doctor, academic, engineer, scientist, journalist and not a single businessmen in Fiji is any good. Only whites and foreigners are any good. Has anyone ever heard from him anything contrary but damned condemnation of each and every public figure? Such is a man called Victor, an insecure megalomaniac much like someone else we know of in Fiji - ASK.

What about Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi? I think Victor would have the utmost respect and regard for him. I do. Because he is a man of integrity, intellect and fairness for all who call Fiji home and what's best for the country.

Yes, Fiji is full of very good, talented, ethical and capable people. But for Victor, there are none. He sees no good in any Fijian.

Put Kepa, Rabuka and Bainimarama in a hat for a draw and Rabuka wins with a huge margin. People tend to whitewash Bainimarama's woes because of the particular ethnic grouping that his coup has helped - at the expense of the other.
No kidding.

Why are Fiji Leak singling out Ro Teimumu. Nobody was vocal during the last 8 years like Ro Teimumu. All the public figures emerging now should step aside and let Ro Teimumu lead the party.
Where were their voices when Fiji needs them. Only one voice was being heard and that was our Lady and Warrior Ro Teimumu. "When the going gets tough, the tough (Ro Teimumu) gets going.

During those tumultuous years of Franks military rule, when people were being killed, tortured, dragged up to QEB, only one chief stood in his face and openly defied him. She was arrested in the middle of the night, and taken to jail. It only made her bolder. Now that things are better (somewhat), a lot of people are starting to act brave. Where were you during those years? Isn't it a shame that a lady has more balls then these men?....She has proven herself.

SODELPA is doomed to fail with these constant divisions within their ranks. I'd be surprised if they were able to get themselves together and set things straight asap.

Sodelpa will not fall. The instigator of the fall is being investigated and charged and attending court hearing.
