BAINIMARAMA COMMENDED FIJI SEVASHRAM SANGHA FOR ITS COMMITMENT AND SERVICE TO ALL FIJIANS:
“Throughout history, we have seen quite clearly – and at times, quite painfully – the absolute imperative of unity among all Fijians. We have suffered the folly of division along ethnic, religious, and provincial lines. And that experience has shown us the immeasurable value of the common and equal citizenship all Fijians share today.”
The Fiji Sevashram Sangha was acknowledged for its commitment, and strength of faith through service to all their fellow Fijians. It has only been in existence in Fiji for 20 YEARS. Its founder, Acharya Srimat Swami Pranavananda Maharaj (1896-1941), the proponent of Assertive Hindu Nationalism, had believed that proper preparations for self-defense by the Hindus would create security and forestall violent outbreaks. He criticized Gandhi’s non-violent approach, which he found too passive. In a short span of 45 years that he lived he made a profound impact on the masses and re-emergence of Assertive Hindu nationalism.
Fijileaks: We wonder if PostFiji CEO BANSOD is a DEVOTEE of this
Hindu sect. If so, he should be deported out of Fiji, for manipulating
FFP into issuing these commemorative Fiji stamps. Frankly speaking, we had never heard of Acharya Srimat Swami Pranavananda Maharaj (1896-1941) nor his contribution to the welfare of Indo-Fijians and their coolie ancestors
“The Hindus are not so much in need of ideas and ideals, as they are in need of strength, unity, organization, power of self-defence and a will for self-expansion. Ideas and ideals they have enough; they have enough of plans and programs. But everything has become meaningless for want of strength and energy. The entire Hindu population is to be vitalized by an infusion of tremendous energy.” – thus spoke Acharya Srimat Swami Pranavananda Maharaj (1896-1941), one of the greatest proponent of Hindu Nationalism and the founder of Bharat Sevashram Sangha that has been operating a branch in FIJI. |
Today, there are more than 500 Mandirs worldwide. BSS has set up reconversion efforts in areas where Christian missionaries are active. Acharya Maharaj had pointed out that the ancient Hindu rishis converted millions and accommodated them into society, expanding Hindu society in large increments. The Acharya lamented, “The Hindu society, as it stands at present, is still steeped in meaningless superstitions and conservatism and is not ready to tolerate re-conversion and re-accommodation of the renegades and the tribals. What is needed is to wake up the sleeping masses.”
FRANK BAINIMARAMA while launching the commemorative stamps for the Fiji Sevashram Sangha in Suva:
“Your countless acts of compassion have had an impact too wide to capture in words. But to put it simply: Your commitment to service is exactly how great societies, and great nations, are built. Your work makes us all proud to call ourselves Fijians.”
“In the spirit of Swami Pranavananda’s teachings, this organisation’s legacy is not constrained by the chain of slumber. You have defined yourselves through your actions; by taking Fiji forward through education, the arts, and philanthropy. Your principles are universal.”
Prime Minister Bainimarama acknowledged the work that is undertaken by Fiji Sevashram Sangha in supporting Fijians, not based on who they are, but rather on the difficulty of the circumstances that they face.
“Regardless of our faith and regardless of the way we worship, Fijians know what is right, we know what is wrong, and we know we must do what we can to aid those who need our help.”

Secretary for Fiji Sevashram Sangha, Shri Manhar Narsey commended the head of Government for his visionary leadership in Fiji, the region and around the world.
Meanwhile, tonight marked milestones in two remarkable legacies; the 125th Birthday of their celebrated founder, Swami Pranavananda Maharaj and 20 years of service to the Fijian people by the Fiji Sevashram Sangha. SOURCE: Fiji Government Website
