Mr TABAIWALU

I humbly tender my one month notice of resignation as the Party's Youth Wing President.

I resign, to prepare for the 2018 General Elections.

In March, during our SODELPA YOUTH AGM, I will explain in detail my reason to step down from the Presidency of SODELPA YOUTH and I will not seek re-election.

I believe that the SODELPA YOUTH WING has grown tremendously, and the Party has a large number of young people who are shaping our new Democracy along side the seasoned politicians in the Party.

I offer my services and support to the Party and look forward to helping SODELPA prepare for the 2018 General Elections

Peter Waqavonovono

SODELPA owes it to Waqavonovono for bringing in so many young people in to their party.
I voted for one Fiji. In 2018, I'm joining Peter

Editor,
How good is it when a public office holder is said to have " showed professionalism, determination , courage and dignity in handling her job". This is what Sankar Kumar Chatterjee said of the Australian Human Rights Commissioner Professor Gillian Triggs in full support of Dr Kristine Klugman's letter of condemnation for Professor Triggs omission from the Australian of the Year by the awards council ( Canberra Times 28/01).
Professor Triggs was not even listed despite the overwhelming support for her nomination because of her outspoken criticism of the Australian States detention and asylum seeker policies.
Award or no award a good public office holder stands tall because of his or her integrity to do what is right and not what is politically expedient for those in power.
Professor Triggs was such a public official.
A true role model for all public office holders.
Sincerely,
Rajend Naidu

This young falla, has he ever had a full time day job, raised family, paid home loan or has he demonstrated enterpuranal skill. If yes worthy of consideration as a MP if no I suggest he should build a life in the first instance and consider politics later.

Talking about the fitness of someone to be a political leader, is the Bainimarama regime installed President Ex- Army man George Con Rot such a leader, given his involvement in the racist military coup of 1987.
As president he was given an official welcome with all the pomp and parade by the Fijian military . The whole thing is so colonial notwithstanding the " traditional ceremonies " superfluously attached to it.
I suppose this the main role of the president in Bainimarama's dictatorship pretending to be a " true democracy ".
This young man Peter Waqavonovono has stood steadfast for democracy in Fiji. That qualifies him for political leadership if he so aspires.

Editor,
In its 659 page World Report 2016 , its 26 th edition, Human Rights Watch captures comprehensively the twin threats : How the Politics of Fear and the Crushing of Civil Society imperil global rights.
Authoritarian governments throughout the world, fearful of peaceful dissent that is often magnified by social media, embarked on the most intense crackdown on independent groups in recent times...
From his own direct experience and that of fellow pro- democratic cracy activists Peter Waqavonovono would know precisely what the HRW report is highlighting..
The same applies to Fiji people following theFijileaks and other alternative media revelations of human rights curtailment in the Bainimarama regime since 2006 .
Sincerely,
Rajend Naidu
