In Frederika Steen's letter ( The Age 24/01 ) we read " The Immigration Dept has a $1.3 million budget for medals to acknowledge staff achievements. What a gross misuse of publicity c funds and a disgraceful sop to public servants who are required to implement cruel policies that have harmed and killed people seeking our protection.
I personally would refuse to accept such a medal".

I am proud I was a public servant with a social conscience and did not accept any rubbish from politicians/ ministers.
In today's world we have become an endangered species. Public servants have mostly become very meow meow or very sycophantic.
Medals are often given to such types for " loyal " service .
It is like a dictator giving away medals left, right and centre to his cronies and apparatchiks .

It's everybody's right to bring to the attention of the authorities suspected improper practices.

We should be thanking the guy for highlighting this not putting him down.

He is the super minister, dont we forget. Mahendra Reddy is but an Enforcement Officer sitting in Education Ministry, implementing the super Minister's commands. This time, the Super Minister has also said that Reddy was sleeping on the job as he didnt know this was happening. He may be correct. Reddy was sleeping on the job when FNU Vice Chancellor Iqbal Jannif allowed Ian Rouse to run away without being charged. Universities are in shambles. Quality of medical professionals trained is very worrying.

The AG has the full right to report the matter to FICAC as the story reflects acts of dishonesty from civil servants. This shows transparancy and accountabilty must be practiced by everyone and we must be thankful that this has been highlighted by AG.

Civil service appointments and promotions have always used procedures. However since MP Reddy has taken position the criteria is as follows: did you vote for me? Did you campaign for me? Are you a South Indian. If you answer yes to all or most of these questions you can move up the ladder even if you don't have the qualification or experience. If you get no for any of these question you better begin packing your bags.If you think I am lying-check all new promotions, transfers and firing done at schools since he took office

More AG excuses confirming his incompetence to manage anything at all (Wake up Fiji, haven't heard this all before with the delays in Free Milk, Free Water, Free Medicines!). How on earth does the international community in Fiji respect themselves for allowing an idiotic AG to control a nation? Never mind, momentary lapse. The international community is getting rich off the idiot, that's why.

Meanwhile, a Minister of Finance goes after low level employees when the responsibility to know EVERYTHING about its Ministry should reside with the Minister. (BTW, shouldn't the Minister of Finance also provide answers to the missing $100M?). What is the point of taxpayer moneys funding these incompetent public officials who are only costing the people more money and headaches? Wake up Fiji. this is more than enough justification for 'No competence' vote. If only you knew how to do it.

Meanwhile, can the Minister of Finance explain if he will now also report himself and the Roads team to FICAC for investigation of no tenders, delays in delivery, and recommendations to 'same companies that were used last year and who also caused delays.' What about your former Neil Sharma? or your current Bhatnagar? Will you be reporting MoH workers for its leadership incompetence in overseeing drugs under your Free Medicine scheme is ordered on time? Is that another Procurement dept also at fault? Pathetic situation. A deluded country being led by a Suva filled with incompetent, arrogant and opportunistic 'new Fijians' while the rest of the country is too ignorant or paralyzed to react.

Plot thickens. Looks like Mahendra Reddy and Jone Usumate are on their way out. The FICAC complaints are designed to achieve that objective. Jone was the likely successor for Reddy as Education Minister. But the man with the power wants Rosy there. She will do good as a model, with picture shots visiting all the 1000 schools in the country. Beyond that she will remain as useless as she is in Welfare. She will be a dutiful servant of the Super Minister.

This AG always wants to poke his nose in Education and control everything. His ministry is at fault. Why does Education Ministry have to seek funding for textbook from MOF in the first place?Doesn't AG control the procurement office himself???AG has incapable staff and it also shows his incapability to lead. Education staff or Minister is not at fault. It is AG for slowing down process. His staff consistently delay work of all ministries whether it be financial or legal on AGs directives. Wonder why. Dr. Reddy is too good so he still gets work done despite all this delay. AG can never work like Dr. Reddy and he should not even try.

Why do these Muslim ministers interfere with other ministries? AG is exactly like Rosy Akbar. Just run after cheap publicity and mostly appearing in events or functions that does not concern them. AG and RA need to butt out of events that are not under their portfolio and stop being so desperate to steal Dr. Reddy's limelight. Why did AG have to make press statementjust hours before Dr. Reddy arrived in Fiji. Couldn't he have waited??? Reddy has done way more than the two of them put together and definately does not sleep on the job. However it looks like AG was sleeping on his.

Typically a no-brainer when someone as dictatorial as Frankie poke his nose into everything whenever something isn't going right as if he knows best (although its mostly AK-47 calling the shots often).

They're both completely incompetent with a lot of "red taping" hidden within the amount of freebies they've been giving away that the huge amount of debt will eventually reveal its ugly little head in due time.
