Without critical thinking - the ability to reason dialectically, not only students but university lecturerers as well are intellectually, emotionally and morally incomplete. Some are even intellectually and morally bankrupt. Some of this variety of university people showed their hand when they throw in their sycophantic support behind the Bainimarama dictatorship in Fiji and tried to be its intellectual prop. They bring shame to what a university is meant to stand for.

So much for showing to Fiji your intelligence. If the Minister for Education is plagiarizing what can we expect from students in Fiji! Just goes around to re prove the quality, integrity and ethics of people Fiji has chosen to govern them. As if we don't have enough looters, killers, liars, now we have cheaters as well.

Dr Mahendra Greedy you make a lofty speech and talk about " A society which is built on solid foundation of values and virtues and believe in fair-mindedness and inclusiveness" but is that the society which has been built by the rogue dictatorship of which you are a part? Not by a long shot! The society you lot have built is founded on lies, deceit, coercion and intimidation, arbitrariness and no commitment to fairness. There is no real evidence of "inclusiveness"; only the assertion and the claim to ensuring equality. If an inclusive society is what you rogues have created why isn't there any Indians in the police contingent going for overseas training? The only inclusiveness is the band of brigands - from all ethnic communities - you have gathered to support you and your co thug rulers.
Like Dr Neil Sharma you too are a greedy pig who has abandoned his principles and lost his credibility.

Let's ask Mahen to write more original speeches. How about writing on the fact that public accounts is shocking and shows the greed of these ministers. That the amount paid for telephone bills by just one ministry was more than a person's annual income. The amount fiji didn't pay for its foreign loans (since Aiyaaz and Baini were sleeping at their job) could have made a huge settlement for the whole squatter settlement in Suva. The amount paid to Baini and Aiyaaz could have paid to save a few peoples life had they received medical treatment on time. Can he write that the current line up is even worse.
We have academics like Mahendra Reddy showing his true potentials. Then we have Praveen Bala who cannot be tried in court since ' no magistrates are available'. How strange when smallest of smallest criminals get into court as soon as, while killer murders can't be tried. Welcome to the new Fiji that we are seeing through Mahendra Reddys eye ! Looking forward to reading more original speeches from this 3rd rate academic turned worst commerce commissioner and a cheating minister for education.

Dr. Reddy is just following the foot-steps of his masters, the naami “intellectual property thieves” – Bainimarama and Aiyaz. Thank you FijiLeaks for pointing out another of their REPEAT offending. We would have thought that Dr. Reddy, at least, was above plagiarism.

And every single one of these lousy, pathetic lot who stand under the banner of our STOLEN name – ‘Fiji First Party’ are themselves CHORS – plain and simple CHORS.

What other explanation does CHOR Aiyaz and CHOR Bainimarama have for STEALING our name - None!

Forget creativity, originality or even an acknowledgement or respect by these nincompoops CHORS of other peoples’ ideas. No they are just plain and simple Crooks and CHORS.

IT is difficult to believe that an academic (former) would do what you- Fijileaks- are implying and suggesting - is that Dr. Reddy did not acknowledge his sources. That can't be true!

We see chunks and chunks of direct plagiarism in Dr. Reddy’s speech, without even a mention in passing about the original authors. He is definitely passing others’ knowledge and composition as his very own.

In other words, Dr. Reddy is an imposter, trying to impress on his audience, sounding philosophically smarter, when indeed and as a matter of FACT, he is behaving just like his master Khaiyum - who is a slimy and slithery intellectual property thief.

But then, how can we forget that Dr. Reddy belongs to the PARTY with the STOLEN name.

Critical thinking in the meantime, Victor, continues to remain your exclusive domain.

You are doing a damn good job exposing these ‘Imposters’ and other corrupt thieving Chors. Thank you and GOD bless you.

Tut tut! Every academic's pet hate and here we have a supposed Dean wallowing in blatant, outright plagiarism from start to finish.

Reading this against Pio Tikoduadua's maiden speech claiming that original thinking was something only Fiji First had, its pretty clear now just how bullshit that was.

If the 'Me First' thugs can get sprung in the Auditor General's reports with having consistently having their hands in the cookie jar stealing resources that rightfully belonged to the people, stealing votes would be child's play.

It is strange when a university keeps harping about excellence but check on its lack of transparency.
Students have to pay extra fees eg from: ‎Letters to the Editor Uncensored
2 hrs ·
After boasting so much on how USP is.... Advertising the "goodness" of studying MBA and Under-grad compared to FNU and other institutes.
USP is imposing a 10% increase in fees. Does anybody care to know where the profits made from last year are going. Because it simply sounds like USP will make more profits this year as well.

Not only that, it pays much to its VC and unqualified Deans and other SMT members. It pays much to John Apted to fight for cases for the wrong doings of vc. It pays much to silence and force it's staff to resign. So much for priding its excellent education under the leadership of the vc.
So Minister of Education, when you get time from cheating, do what you have sworn to do- improve education in Fiji.

The former Minister of Education, from the same government, brought in some bigger changes - abolish the national examinations. I don't remember any of these accolades about 'go ahead, we fijians support you for being brave to make changes that had been lying in the pipelines for decades'! Why are these accolades being given by 'we fijians support you Sir' for a Minister who is making changes to what the former Minister of the same government had done?? It is unfortunate that we who are saying 'Best ever Minister for Education' seem to be becoming short-sighted ....

Sad, so very sad...
Plagiarism aside, the content of the speech (as provided on this site) was somewhat very confused. There appeared to be no direction in the content, and some bad contradictions.
In terms of the suggestions, there is no really new direction or innovative ideas, instead the suggestions will place a lot more burden on the system. Perhaps reflective of a Minister who is not an experienced teacher. There is a shift back to the days of rote learning and drill-and-practice that does not and will not contribute to critical thinking at all ... The big question - will CBAs be still in place? is not addressed; how much is the teacher going to be empowered to take control of curriculum implementation?
How many students really will chose technical education? Has there been a research on a sample of students?
A lot of uncertainties for the direction of education in Fiji over the next so many years. Wonder if the PM is aware of this..

What a turn around, I know for a fact (and I have gone through this in my student days), MR used to penalize students for "copying" from unacknowledged sources. You literally tortured us in our youth, your turn now Professor. Guess he thinks he doesn't need to now that no one checks his speeches/essays for plagiarism. A shameless man, he thinks just because he used to 'teach' he can become an education minister, o please, your theories don't work on this field. The kids now days more than you thanks to the internet and would give you a good run for your money. Hey maybe you can use your experience from Commerce Commission and get a regulated price on bootlegged "educational" stuff like photocopied textbooks, duplicate CD/DVDs, and other piracy. Hey you don't acknowledge people for their work, why should we?? God, how does ASK recruit such idiots.

Just wanted to add, to previous comment. I saw MR gave an 8-page speech to FNU staff & students. Well it seems he has forgotten the days when his long lectures who get students sooo bored. Dude seriously, did you "write" a speech or a mini-novel! What the case, I bet he still can read the text with 1-eye closed lol. Seems our "new" & "young" MPs need to attend a Public Speaking & Mannerism workshop instead of running around wild in their Chevys. Maybe that's where they will understand the effects of loonngg booring speeches lol.

Now Mahen Reddy is talking about the poor performances of graduates (Fiji Times, 24/2/15). What did he do as an academic to up skill the graduates? Did he do anything beyond teaching the prescribed curriculum? Mahen seems to be a self-proclaimed "know it all" guy. Does he have the statistics to back his claims (Fiji Times, 24/2/15). He has a PhD in Economics and not Education as people might think. People with PhDs in Education will be able to comment better on issues like student performances so please Mahen, stop pretending to be what you are not.

Mahen has never been a primary or secondary school classroom teacher so he is talking about "teachers role" without experience. He is thinking like a tertiary level academic, which he has always been.

The Ministry of Education website (Minister's CV) says that he was transferred to FNU from USP. Is it true Mahen? If yes, who transferred you and why was it done? If no, please correct the information on your website.

On a positive note, Mahen has shown the world that, with determination and dedication, a Diploma level graduate can also do a PhD.
