THE DISGRACEFUL JOURNALISM ON DISPLAY: Fiji Sun wakes up to report that political activist USP student has scholarship restored - sickeningly, the paper had not carried the story in the first place!

Why would Fiji Sun run the story of the improper decision by agents of the Bainimarama regime to terminate a student's scholarship because of his political affiliation with some other party other than the dictator's party?
The Fiji Sun is Bainimarama's propaganda paper. As far as the Fiji Sun is concerned everything the dictator and his cronies do are right. The Fiji Sun didn't run the story because it took the position that the decision to terminate was right!
The belated publication of the reinstatement of the scholarship with praise for the scholarship chairman for overturning the earlier decision is just a face saving thing.
The Fiji Sun has indeed become a disgrace to journalism.

the termination of that student's scholarship was a case of political victimization - pure and simple!
Dixon Seeto - the regime lackey with the fancy title of Chairman of TSLB - is merely trying to obfuscate the case with his incoherent muttering.

USP VC Rajesh Chandra had a big hand in this. This man surrendered USP's autonomy to Bainimarama and Khaiyum out of cowardice and self-interest. He is a puppet VC. he takes orders from the real powers behind USP, Khaiyum and Bainimarama. Rajesh Chandra's vice-chancellorship has been characterised by this type of unfair, backhand dealings and decision-making. USP is a place where intimidation of staff and students, bullying, discrimination, unfair treatment is rife. There is no such thing as procedures and processes. Dictator Rajesh Chandra makes and breaks the rules as he pleases. He loves to brandish the so-called USP Strategic Plan but does not follow it in principle or practice. He uses the strategic plan like toilet paper when it suites him. He is getting all the more arrogant, devious and cocksure as he is so certain that the FijiFirst Party will win and is position is safe.

Fijileaks, the problem of being so far away from Fiji is you are so out of touch with reality..
The Fiji Sun newspaper first broke the story on the 27th of May, a day ahead of the Fiji Times.
Peddling more of your lies about the Fiji Sun, eh.

Jyoti, you say Fijileaks is far away: Fijileaks, the problem of being so far away from Fiji is you are so out of touch with reality..Peddling more of your lies about the Fiji Sun, eh. Jyoti Pratibha, Fiji Sun

I wonder what are you doing being in Fiji, not to tell us that Vodagone CEO Aslam Khan is leaving his job; of course you will not, for the only thing good you are at is coconut wireless

Presumably, you are attacking Victor Lal, ah?

The Fiji Sun has become a toilet paper since Lal won the Robert-Keith Reid Award for Outstanding Journalism - he exposed Mahend's millions from far away, so go sit at his feet and learn the art of real journalism

Jyoti (whether you are real or fake) read the story - Fiji Sun never carried the original story but ran and got a comment from Seeto and published it on 27 May:

Details confidential: Seeto

Details pertaining to individual students under the Tertiary Scholarship Loans Board are confidential.
For this reason, Board chairman Dixon Seeto said he would not comment on a statement issued by the Roshika Deo – Be The Change campaign.
The statement claimed: “On May 23rd 2014, a volunteer of Be The Change had his university scholarship terminated by the Tertiary Scholarship Loan Board (TSLB) for “associating” himself “in political agendas”.
“There are no stipulations in the scholarship arrangement (nor should there be) that prevents a student from engaging in the political affairs of their country and nation building, especially in pursuit of making informed voting decisions,” the campaign statement said.
Mr Seeto said all undertakings between the board and a student on scholarship or under the loan scheme should remain confidential.
“But if that particular student has gone to the media about it – well then I suppose it’s a free country, people can do whatever they want.”
Be The Change campaign leader Roshika Deo said they would reveal the name of the student at a later date.
“He is a high achieving student, who needs the scholarship to complete his undergraduate degree. The letter of termination did not provide him with any right to reply or appeal,” she said.
Ms Deo said the lowering of the voting age to 18 years was to encourage the political participation of young people.
“Genuine democracy is impossible if our constitutional rights are violated and we are intimidated through the violation of our right to education,” she added.

Details Confidential: Seeto!

Yes, just look at the headline

I thought the cancellation of the student's scholarship should have been the headline; not regime lackey Seeto's response

Of course Fiji Sun journalists check Fijileaks and C4.5 several times a day!
And now Jyoti and her Fiji Sun bosses have exposed themselves again for the Baiyum/Fiji First stooge they are. Shallow reporting, copy and paste from other media, publishing media statements as news without comment or analysis.
What can we expect from a bunch of regime turkeys ... I mean, lackeys? Pathetic Fiji Sun

Fiji Sun has a good number of them. Compared to Victor Lal and his fellow investigative journalists in FijiLeaks the regime propagandists in the Fiji Sun are very mediocre third-rate journalists. Some like Jyoti Pratibha are just plain shit journalist.

Jyoti Pratibha is described as Fiji Sun's " senior journalist". Nothing in her writing reflects that journalistic acumen. The right title for her should be "sonalevu journalist"!

Dixon Seeto is trying to salvage his damaged reputation and credibility by now talking belatedly about "due process" and all that in a letter to the Fiji Times (12/6) with regard to the scholarship termination scandal.
Isn't he the same scoundrel who had "no comment" to make when he was first asked to explain why the student's scholarship was terminated?
Not only that he even took the arrogant position that people can do whatever they want .
Now he he wants to explain just to save his face - the face of a regime lackey . But shit's on it already!
