Batered Donation Not So Generous
9/3/2016 12:02:35 am

Do u mean donation is made into personal fund or a fund that shall not be audited and one with no transparency?

That would then make sense to get a barter for it as donation may be to fill own pocket like the Cyclone Amy Fund of MPC while DISMAC distributing rations from rest of the funds.. Is It?

Maybe there shall be more donations in the remaining 12 years to come as a trade off!

Mafia style politics has become the new order of politics and government in the " new " Fiji of Khaiyum and Bainimarama. You can't do business without an appropriate " sevusevu" to the Mafia bosses in Fiji.
Palm greasing is the new norm in Fiji politics.

re: prime minister's disaster relief fund
businesses and others have been donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to this , which is good.
What I am concerned about is why is the govt not informing the public about how much has been collated so far and why does it not give a running balance on daily basis.

It's simple. It's because secrecy is the modus operandi of a dictatorial regime - which is what the Bainimarama - Khaiyum Fiji First Theft Party government is, notwithstanding its pretence of being a parliamentary democracy and all that. So keeping things hidden from the public comes naturally to such a regime. And, when things are hidden from the public the Thug Rulers can divert the money for other purposes - like the next election carnival.

Trade off with the Thug Ruler of Fiji , the one who stole the Fiji First Party name.

Editor,
ONLY ONE VERSION ALLOWED
We learn from ' Chinese Magazine Challenges government over censorship ' ( the guardian 8/03 ) that Caixin, one of China's most respected current affairs magazine, has questioned the Communist party's censorship of its work when it removed an interview on free speech from its website.
The Chinese State does not favour that kind of independent journalism.
In a recent high profile tour of Chinese news media outlets President Xi Jinping demanded " absolute loyalty from his country's media".
His idea of that he told the media is that " they must love the party, protect the party, and closely align themselves to the party leadership in thought, politics and action".
There is clearly no place for critical reporting in that kind of " absolutely loyal " journalism.
That is the kind of kind of media the Khaiyum- Bainimarama regime has demonstrated it also favours and the media in Fiji has mostly obliged by showing they are politically on-side with the gang in government.
For critical journalism one has to go to Fijileaks and other websites.
Sincerely,
Rajend Naidu
