Truth is anathema for rogue rulers.
We learn from The Salt Lake Tribune 9/01 article ' Zimbabwe : Journalists Arrested for Criticising Government' that two journalists were arrested after they reported that the government secretly paid salaries and bonuses to intelligence staffers while other civil servants were unpaid in December.
Last month the Zimbabwean government paid about 276,000 civil servants late, with only soldiers getting their money on time.
" Journalists in Zimbabwe are routinely detained on allegations of false reporting in stories critical of top officials ".
Is anyone anywhere surprised by this news of the hounding of journalists in Zimbabwe?
I mean the Dictatorship of Robert Mugabe has not ended, has it?
Hounding journalists, intimidating the media, is what dictatorships do.
Rogue rulers find the truth revealed by journalists unpalatable and use the power they have for the arbitrary persecution of journalists often using a compliant judiciary to pretend due process and the rule of law have been applied to give them a fair trial.
Dictatorships do not operate on fairness.
Fijileaks followers will know that from their Fiji experience.

Rogue rulers in modern times and ruthless tyrants in Roman times ensured that soldiers got their money on time. That was one mob that had to be kept happy so that they would do the tyrannical rulers bidding, including the repression of their own people. Not much has changed on that front in human history. The Fiji coup case is no exception.

Why should one Vijay P Madhavan be clarifying what the PM Frank Bainimarama meant when he said " rubbish " in relation to same sex marriage ? ( Fiji Times letter " PM's comment 12/01).
Is he a self- appointed mouthpiece of the Coupist PM?
Can Mr Madhavan tell what the PM meant when he swore at the padre Father Kevn Barr?
