A pivotal moment for Turkey and its President Reccep Tayyip Erdogan. Where will 6,000 detainees be kept? For how long? Or, more darkly, will the law be changed to reinstall execution for treason? Mehmet Simsek, deputy Turkish PM, emphasises how unarmed civilians confronted the full force of armed military to uphold democracy. CNN's Becky Anderson was sent from Paris at short notice to interview President Erdogan. She shrewdly pointed out his use of mobile phone apps to encourage the people out in support of democracy. A fascinating situation in a country with the second largest military in NATO.

The current Fiji system was modelled after Turkey with essentially two states, one the conventional state apparatus and the other a so called "deep state" comprising a professional and secular military who ect as the conscience of the nation.
