From Fiji Sun archive (11 April 2015) where FFP profusely praised Sharma's contribution as Health Minister; recently Fiji Sun (18 April 2017) claimed that Sharma was tipped to join the NFP, which Sharma denied; Fijileaks: Sharma will not join any party for he knows Aiyaz Khaiyum will order FICAC prosecutors to drag the former Health Minister to court

From Fijileaks Archive, 11 November 2014:

GOLDEN WITNESS: Fijileaks is temporarily holding back the statement of this key FICAC witness in whose presence Sharma and Devan cut deal!

"In the presence of __________and Dr. Eloni Tora, Honorable Minister, then calls Mr. Vashu Devan on his cell phone and asks him to make his way to his office. Mr. Vashu Devan makes his way to the office of the Minister. Mr. Vashu Devan had visited the Minister on other occasions and as such he had no difficulty in making his way to his office promptly.  Shortly afterwards, Dr. Eloni Tora excused himself from the meeting and the meeting between Dr. Neil Sharma, _________and Mr. Vashu Devan continued. Honorable Minister released confidential information of the evaluated tender “The Price Summary” for all the companies to Mr. Vashu Devan in the presence of __________. Dr. Neil Sharma told Mr. Vashu Devan to have a look at it and keep it. The release of confidential tender document with summary of price for individual bidders was to assist Mr. Vashu Devan compute six month costs for reagents which was omitted in the initial bid...It is further alleged that the company was eliminated at the initial tender evaluation for not meeting the specs; however, the Honorable Minister systematically manipulated the system and colluded by way of disclosing confidential bid analysis to Mr. Vashu Devan for him to provide costs of reagents for the six months to _______ via email...______ further revealed that upon receipt of the summary of cost analysis from the Minister, Mr. Vashu Devan then called someone abroad and talked about Consumables and Reagent pricing. ______and ______ have submitted a letter outlining series of events that eventuated during the meeting with the Minister, Dr. Tora, Mr. Vashu Devan and ______. Disclosure of confidential summary of bid analysis on pricing by Dr. Neil Sharma of evaluated tender to Mr. Vashu Devan of Hospineer (eliminated Company) after tender call, evaluation and recommendation, is unethical, corrupt in nature, immoral and questions the integrity of Dr. Neil Sharma. The release of vital information facilitated Mr. Vashu Devan to obtain 1st six months pricing for consumables and reagents and submit to _______via email after close of bid. Had the vital information, “Price Comparison Summary” on consumables and reagents not [been] released, Mr. Vashu Devan would not have been able to submit the pricing for reagents.   Dr. Neil Sharma’s conduct to release confidential information of evaluated tender to Mr. Vashu Devan an unsuccessful bidder has elements of abuse of authority, collusion and decept[ion]. Mr. Vashu Devan is told to email his total cost of reagents for a period of six months via email to _______. Considering that Mr. Vashu Divan’s Company has been eliminated, Honorable Minister analytically sees a way out to award the bid to Mr. Vashu Devan. The above facts on the Honorable Minister’s actions are nothing less than abuse of office, collusion, conspiracy and official corruption with willful intention to defraud state."

Fijileaks Editor: The initial tender had been awarded to Roche Diagnostics Company Ltd of New Zealand; Devan's tender had been eliminated in the first round.

I must congratulate Fiji Leaks for an excellent piece of investigative journalism to expose Dr Neil Sharma and corruption in the Health Ministry. Wonder what happened to the PIÑA annual awards for journalism for this work plus that if the "Haryana Lettergate" would be deserving of the top award for investigative journalism. PINA and journalism ethics have been cast aside in Fiji since the top PIÑA representative, Matai Akoula shed his journalist "fighting-for-the-truth role" to join the Fiji First Party and is now sitting in Parliament with his lips and conscious tightly sealed drawing a salary from taxpayer funds.
