Julab dean

Don't hold your breath waiting for a response victor. He is probably in the bathroom having a julab. Or he might come groveling to you. I hope you do not let this khaiyum lackey off easily for, as you say, engendering a sycophantic system that sheltered mini tyrants like Ashwin Raj and saw people like wadan narsey with decades of dedicated service shoved out because maharajah rajesh was too sensitive to criticism. Expose this fraud and the damage done to usp victor.

Victor how dare you call the maharajah 'Rajesh' when all USP is under strict orders only to refer to him as vice- chancellor and vice-president bhaiyah.

In his fervor to please Khaiyum, Maharaja Rajesh has forgotten what an independent regional institute stands for. He has tarnished the imagine of what a good univerisity should be like. His meaning and understanding of an excellent university is a hypocrisy. Having reduced staff moral, bullied high achieving professors, favoring ass-licking unionists and favor seeking academics, the quality at USP leaves much questionable. Care to find out about appointments, promotions and pecks he gives to his cronies. Hypocrites like him are a shame of academia.

What the USP expose will show is the "iron law of oligarchy" where once a reasonably bright academic ascends to the top job he surrounds himself with a praetorian guard of administrators whose principal motivation is to protect Nbr One and the hierarchy first and the objectives of the organisation as a second order priority

Maharajah Rajesh Chandra has destroyed great legacy of a successful regional organization built by the visionary founders of usp. The facade he has put up cannot hide the rot. Development of regional staff was at the heart of usp's future but rajesh destroyed it singlehandedly by replacing tutors and Asssitant lectures with teaching assistants on half the pay but equal of not more work. This is how Rajesh exploited local and regional workers at usp - reduced thier pay by half and at the same time destroyed their changes of moving up the academic ladder. Right from the start this man has been consumed with destroying the entitlements of staff. USP is now the worst crop Agency - at the arse end of the regional organizations. That's your legacy Rajesh. Staff just can't wait for tyrant's term to finish so the rebuilding can start.

What has reducing salaries and "destroying changes of moving up the academic ladder" gotta do with the issue of arse-licking the dictators? Observer seems to be obsessed with his low pay, which would be twice the pay of a 4.5 GPA school teacher, with half the work.

It's true that Rajesh Chandra targeted the most vulnerable like tutors and junior staff whose pay increase was deliberately delayed by years until cornered into accepting a reduced settlement. Savings were used to build a top heavy infrastructure - washed out expats on hefty lay packets and perks. Despite all the VPs and consultants and technical staff USP has actually gone backwards. It doesn't has much to show for. Shows how quickly poor leadership can bring down a noble institution to its knees.

Ganesh Chand turned FNU towards a more regional direction whereas Rajesh chandra turned a regional institution like USP into more like a national Fiji instituion. Lack of vision the problem.

Is it true that Kai asked Rajesh Chandra to provide an opinion on the performance of Dr. Ganesh and FNU and Rajesh said all that Kai wanted to hear in order to instruct Monster Reddy to fire Dr. Ganesh? With this, Kai achieved three things - he solidified allegiance of Rajesh by getting rid of his main rival for academic profile; he drove a permanent rift between Reddy and Dr. Ganesh so that Reddy had no one to turn to for advise after firing Dr. Ganesh, and of course, removed the man he hated the most.

I thought by now it was crystal clear that doing " great stuff " was not the criteria for getting ahead in the Fiji . The new criteria is you have to be a sycophant of those in positions of power. Remember those in positions of power have not got there themselves by doing " great stuff".

So true. Ask Dr. Ganesh. He did great stuff at FNU. For this, Dr. Ganesh got fired. Now FNU full of corruption and decline. Just see Navua Farm. Dr. Ganesh acquired and changed its face. Now all on the ocean side given to Korean Company. Soon rest will be given to C J Patel. Great stuff frightens dictators. They signal independent thinking and thinking outside the box. Dictators hate this.

Rajesh stopped the appointment of the top ranked candidate for Director HR and now inferior candidate appointed. Selection committee including Wadan Narsey wife and Dr Jito know the true story. Similar case at FNU where Rajesh's friend the wannabee academic Chancellor Jannif also stopped the appointment of most qualified candidate and now Director HR advertised again last weekend. Both want a puppet and not someone who is an independant thinker.

I am not surprised. Mediocre people want only mediocre people to work for them. This is what made Dr. Ganesh different. He actively went out to get best minds from all over the world. Look at how FNU flourished so rapidly. But doing great stuff dont get one far.

I am not surprised. Mediocre people only want mediocre people to work for them. They are scared of smart and intelligent ones. This is what made Dr. Ganesh Chand stand out. He went out to get the best minds from all over the world. Look at how rapidly FNU flourished. Rest is for historians.

Still waiting?? I have come back to fijileaks several times to see no change in status about so-called USPgate. A smear campaign perhaps?

I don't blame you. Either you're totally detached from USP (no one studying there that you could relate to), or from reality (you don't care where the educated future of the Pacific and Fiji will mostly end up). The rest of us who care and want to make a difference are reading on, blogging on. Have you not read anything so far here?

Many of us know Rajesh from our USP days and even after that. My first impression of him was: “very mediocre and bordering on selfish”. That has become even more obvious and true after all these years, especially after he became the VC. He is intelligent, but has become very cunning, crafty malicious and morally corrupt.
