A border alert has been issued by the Police Criminal Investigations Department for Opposition MP and former Attorney General and Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

The CID has said that Sayed-Khaiyum is a person of interest and is currently under investigation regarding a case of alleged inciting communal antagonism.

They say they are yet to deal with Sayed-Khaiyum who is believed to be currently in Australia.

The CID says according to the travel history, Sayed-Khaiyum departed Fiji on the 26th of December 2022.

It says the CID should be contacted upon the arrival of Sayed-Khaiyum.

The border alert seems to have been leaked and is being widely shared.

Police Commissioner, Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho says that is a normal monitoring mechanism of CID writing to the Border Police to inform them that if Sayed-Khaiyum returns, they should be notified in order to carry out investigations on a report against him.

We have also asked Police how this sensitive information has been leaked. Source: Fijivillage News

The People’s Alliance and the National Federation Party have this afternoon filed a Police complaint against FijiFirst General Secretary Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum. PA General Secretary, Sakiasi Ditoka says the complaint is in relation to comments made by Sayed-Khaiyum in a press conference yesterday (21 December 2022).

He says Sayed-Khaiyum made comments about PA leader Sitiveni Rabuka creating racial division and disharmony, which the party is labelling as false.  Ditoka says Police have informed them that the complaint will be submitted to the Criminal Investigation Department. He says they want the Police to investigate Sayed-Khaiyum for inciting communal antagonism contrary to sections 65(2)(a)(i) and 53(1) of the Crimes Act 2009.Ditoka further claims that the FijiFirst GS also committed sedition contrary to section 67(1)(c) read with sections 45 and 51 of the Crimes Act. PA Deputy Leader, Lynda Tabuya says they are supporting the rule of law and asking for proof of any complaints that have been made. Meanwhile, Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho has confirmed receiving a complaint from Sakiasi Ditoka.

THE RORT in the Fiji POLICE Force began when Sitiveni Rabuka, the current Prime Minister hiding behind IMMUNITY for his crimes, brought ISIKIA SAVUA from the RFMF to become the Commissioner of Police after the 1987 COUPS. In fact, a week before the COUP, Rabuka had applied for the post of Police Commissioner, then held by the Indo-Fijian PRAMESH RAMAN. He chased Raman out of Fiji, and appointed his military crony as Police Commissioner. During the 2000 George Speight failed coup, the deposed President told Rabuka and Savua

Sitiveni Rabuka, 2000: "I supported every move to destabilise the Chaudhry government, but I was not part of the coup. I was not involved in any of the [pre-coup] marches. But I was going to be involved in the next one because it was [to be held at] the time of the signing of the successor to the Lome Convention this month.’
