WHO CARES ABOUT BAINIMARAMA? New Zealand PM John Key says He Who Pays the Pipers Calls the Tune; Fiji's PM 'can take a running jump over snub to Pacific Islands Forum' - Aussies and Kiwis stand firm!

TOUGH talk from PM Key clear signal to Bainimarama that he has to behave like a 'Democrat' now; gone are the days when he was behaving like a 'Dictator', finger-pointing and terrorizing Pacific leaders!
'I don’t think you want to take him [Bainimarama] seriously… I am not and I don’t think other people will be either’

New Zealand Prime Minister John Key says the decision to attend or not to attend the Pacific Islands Forum meet rests entirely on Fijian Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama. Speaking to New Zealand based Radio Tarana Key says they prefer him to attend the meeting because they all care about Fiji and Fijians.

However, he says Bainimarama’s non-attendance over the last six years has not made a difference to the meeting.

“You can see that whenever there is a natural disaster or whatever it might be NZ steps up along with Australia and helps and cares deeply about the people of Fiji but you can’t make a guy come to a Forum and if he doesn’t want to come he shouldn’t come it won’t stop the Forum operating as it is operating very successfully for the past five or six years – I prefer he came but I can’t make him come.”

Bainimarama has called on the removal of Australia and New Zealand from the Forum only then he will attend the leaders meeting.

Key told New Zealand station Radio Tarana:

‘’When it comes to the Pacific Island Forum its Australia and New Zealand that put in the money and most typically and we there to support our Pacific friends whether its Fiji or Tonga or Samoa or in Melanesia or Solomon Islands or PNG whatever it might be – so a Pacific Forum without Australia and New Zealand would be an interesting thing I suppose and that those leaders would be able to talk about things but exactly where will they get the money to do anything and the answer is nowhere – none of them have that – So I don’t think you want to take him seriously… I am not and I don’t think other people will be either’’.

At least John Keys is calling it as it really is: Australia and NZ have the Pacific Island countries like Tonga, Samoa, Niue and the Cooks and others of similar ilk, in their back pockets.

Fiji should stay out of the Forum.

The Forum needs Fiji, more than Fiji needs the Forum.

Let the Form Secretariat in Fiji relocate to Wellington or Canberra. We shall all gather at the Nasese sea wall to sing 'Isa Lei' as they sail out into the sunset

What you smoking bro? I never said that a new Secretariat is to built in Nasese.

The "beggars" in this case are Tonga, Samoa, Niuie and the rest of those other Polynesian minnows who cant even export breadfruit to sustain themselves. They will be forever in that backpockets of NZ and Australia!

So Vili is now racist against the Polynesians?? The Tongans have given refuge to your big Ratu Mara Jnr. Be grateful.

NZ has given refuge to thousands of Indo-Fijian victims of racist Rabuka and GS coups. NZ has always been our first neighbor to respond to our cyclonic/flooding disasters. Be grateful.

SPF was a vision of Ratu Mara Snr, who was also its first chair. The SPF is about the enhancement of regional cooperation, compassion and human kindness – not hate.

Fiji will be missed at the Family of the Forum but if it’s Leader chooses to be absent – then good luck.

Whoah ..."Typical"....how can I be a racist against my own self when I have Poly blood in me? Stop jumping to silly conclusions.

My nationality is Fijian. My ethnicity is Fijian (until Frank hijacked the term to apply to all non-indigenes like you). I am a Fijian first.

So you think I should I be grateful to Tonga for giving a refuge to a traitor like Mara who, an absconding debtor and serial womanizer who sold his soul to a foreign government? If he was a real courageous Fijian he should have taken responsibility for his actions and presented himself like Pita Driti did.

We are indeed grateful for all the assistance that foreign governments have given us. But we are not grateful for their behind the scenes backstabbing at the UN, World Bank, the Pacific Islands Forum etc to marginalize and punish Fiji.

Its pay back time. The Forum needs Fiji more than Fiji needs the Forum bro. Accept that and you will become a better person.

How on earth can one be a better person by accepting someone else's theory that the Forum needs Fiji more than Fiji needs the Forum? Damn straight that a real courageous Fijian should take responsibility for their own actions. Lord knows thats been very much lacking since 2006. Oh by the way, indeed Fiji does not need the Forum but am sure the Forum does not need Fiji either as long as PNG is part of the forum. But hey, you don't need to accept this to be a better person.

Vili you confirm you have Poly blood in you. So you are a half caste.

Then you confirm your ethnicity is Fijian... you are Fijian first and call others as non-indigenous who have been given name Fijian.

Just as someone chose to define the word ethnicity as a Fijian for a Part Poly ... you pride your ethnicity to being indigenous. Now Frank has defined the term Fijian to non indigenous, this will not cahnge ethnicity of theirs just as you with your Poly blood claim to be an indigenous Fijian.

In Fiji's history Poly's are invaders and then goingto call themsleves as indigenous. more than 100years later you like roti curry and still call yourself indigenous...!

Vili is right, forum nations particularly Australia and New Zealand need Fiji more to provide border security from invading Maafu's.Fiji has the world's leading naval capacity and a world renowned Commodore.

Voreqe thinks that assitance from China and India will impprove our status so New Zealand and Australia should go out, think again.

China and India cant even feed their own people. Compare Fiji and the street of India. In other words we are receiving assistance that could have been used to improve the livelihood of their own people.

Australia and New Zealand are well off and home to thousand of Fijians including sylum seekers from Asian countries.

They are helping us but they cant even help themselve. We could now be called a KOCOKOCO.

Voreqe should not call himself a Christian cos hes going strait to hell.

Well he has turned to other countries like China and India for assistance as the Aussies and Kiwis have tried to punish Fiji with sanctions but to no avail since it led to Frankie's eight year revolution after the takeover.

Even he obviously sees the PIF as predominantly Australian/NZ influenced. And yet some pacific countries call for Fiji's participation due to its economy (except for Samoa since the PM is die-hard critical of Frankie's every move like the "two big brothers").

But yeah, Frankie has already given the ultimatum to Canberra and Wellington to either help him, or get lost since he's going to do his own thing anyways with or without them.

I think that it would be a foolish move to exclude Australia and New Zealand from the Pacific Islands Forum. Bainimarama's conceitedness is explicitly apparent in his attempt to "boot" these two well-to-do nations from an association that has been a successful organization for many years. The success of the PIF can be majorly attributed to the participation of Australia and New Zealand. And indeed Fiji does need the PIF.

Why do they have 2 separate countries, Aus and NZ, when they seem to speak for each other? Key is the PM for NZ, not Aus. Goes to show that they always act together, no matter what the issue.

Frank is simply amazing. 8 years ago, everyone would have said that Fiji would collapse. Instead, Fiji has reached out to the whole world, made friends everywhere, and is no longer a slave to the Tasman 2, which bothers those 2 countries. And the other Pacific Leaders, they are just behind in the times. If they all thought like Frank in determining their own future and abilities, there would be no need to be beggars. Why beg Aus/NZ for funds or medical care when the south pacific islands can build those capabilities themselves. Fiji doesn't need them, they need Fiji.

DEMOCRACY IS WORTHLESS WITHOUT BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS OF ETHNIC AND GENDER EQUALITY.

Nick Lau...
I support your last statement unequivocally - and I have interpreted that everything you have said prior to 'that' statement, is an attempt to humor and divert.

Well done at getting to the basic's, indeed DEMOCRACY is useless and a façade under the current regime.

John Key's comments was very straightforward and right to the point, BUT what Mr. Key forgets to take into account is that the VERY minute the Aussie and the New Zees leaves the PIF, CHINA will take their place, and thus China is much more developed than both australia n new zealand combined and is also more powerful than both of them .... plus Fiji is looking into including Japan and Other major countries which could offer much more development and more money into this PIF. Well, if you ask me, I'll say I prefer Fiji not seeking to re-tie the relationships between Australia and New Zealand BUT to continue its LOOK NORTH POLICY!!! They have done more Fiji in such a short time compared to Australia n New Zealand over many many decades .... So, May GodBless Fiji for ever more....PEACE!!
