TRUTH FOR FIJI: Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum's 2016 Budget is DECEPTION!

THE DICTATORSHIP'S PROPAGANDA MACHINE, FIJI SUN, has reported a win-win situation definitely for every Fijian – Value Added Tax (VAT) will be reduced to 9% from January 1, 2016.

The six per cent drop in VAT from 15% was announced by the illegal and corrupt Minister for Finance Khaiyum. This, says the FIJI SUN, basically means you will be paying less for more when shopping. This is the deception!

The sly and cunning Khaiyum has reduced VAT, on the one hand, but at the same time added VAT to basic food items that were once exempt, zero-rated, goods.  This means that the poor, who make up over 45% of the nation, will be paying more for basic food items because VAT now applies to the basic goods that include flour, powered milk, cooking oil, rice, kerosene and prescription medication!

Remember that in 2012 the corrupt and lying Bainimarama dictatorship cut FNPF pension payments by up to 50%. This included meager monthly pensions of $50.  Now these $25 a month pension payments will have to accommodate an extra 9% VAT on all basic food items, just to survive!

The Fiji Sun claims that with this move, Government aims to create a progressive tax system, one which is fair to all as opposed to a select few.  What a load of rubbish!  This new tax system means that the poor will now be paying more to subsidize the rich.  Yes the rich will be earning far more from the reduced VAT!  This is just deceptive matter of "robbing peter to pay paul"!  There is nothing fair about it.

According to Khaiyum VAT exemption was supposed to protect those who were not well-off but it was also benefiting the rich who did not pay VAT on these items either.  So Khaiyum's answer is to add VAT that will affect the poor who make up 45% of the nation.  The well-off can afford it and often eat out in restaurants and clubs, and make far than $250 in a single day, or hour, as compared to $25 a month pensioner!...so how exactly will it affect the well-off?.....

With a reduced VAT, claims Khaiyum, consumers would be able to save more than what used to be saved through the VAT-exempt items. Yeah Right!

Khaiyum tells the Speaker of the House that his dictatorship will not ask anything of Fijian citizens that they do not demand of ourselves. This is rubbish!  Bainimarama and Khaiyum cut pensions by 50% then paid themselves multiple salaries amounting to millions! Khaiyum claims he and Bainimarama do not receive millions but stops anyone from auditing the accounts proper, to prove Khaiyum is telling the truth!  This means that Khaiyum can make falsely to fool the people and the stupid!

The people who assess, collect and record taxes and duties must be unquestionably honest, says Khaiyum.

BUT he and Bainimarama are anything but unquestionably honest!  They are liars, committed treason, corruption, sedition and rigged an election. So there is no chance of Bainimarama and Khaiyum ever being seen as or even considered as honest people!

Any interesting point in the Budget is the allocation of $18 million to Fiji Airways, who, if you believe the propaganda, have made such unbelievable profits over the past years that they paid bonuses to their management and staff - all of which dramatically announced in the media.

FBC has been very quick to run this story and Fiji SUN trolls spend hours going through pro-democracy activists Facebook postings but it is over a year and none of the local media approached Sudhakar or Khaiyum to confront them over the death threats the self-confessed Masoor Goonda Sudhakar had been posting against Victor Lal; worst, the Commissioner of Police is yet to respond or act upon Lal's criminal complaint against Sudhakar. Is the local media complicit with Sudhakar and Khaiyum in the blood-thirsty call for Lal's murder? Anyway, let this so-called "Government Whip" visit London, for Scotland Yard and the Metropolitan Police have a file on Sudhakar - and Khaiyum's immunity will not apply to him over his calls to murder Victor Lal.

On 2 November 2015, on the anniversary of the RFMF mutiny, "Masoor Goonda" Sudhakar renewed his Mortein threat against Victor Lal.

Fijileaks founding Editor-in-Chief:
"We fought for Indo-Fijian rights all our life only to witness the birth of SCUMBAGS like Ashneel Sudhakar taking on the mantle of Rabuka, Konrote and others and threatening to kill us on tasting political power":

So what's new? DECEPTION is and has been Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum's modus operandi since day one of teaming up with coupist Frank Bainimarama. Deception, scheming, manipulating and lying is what Khaiyum has been doing as Bainimarama's " intellectual " strategist. If you have any doubt ask Professor Yash Ghai. He will confirm its no bull!
Ask even John Sami who came from NZ to provide the coupist with a blueprint on how to shape Fiji into utopia.
There are in fact lots of people one can ask about Khaiyum's deception, including the gang in the Electoral Commission.

After illegally reducing the Pensioners' Pension by 50%, this shameless impostor, aka Puppet, posing as our PM has been openly BRIBED (and which such BRIBE was gleefully accepted) from the same Pensioners' Fund -for Mr. and Mrs. Puppet- to see Rugby in London. Shameless!

Remember Pension is an already earned entitlement –which has had special protection under the bill of rights provisions of the Peoples’ 1997 constitution and under Fiji’s Trust Laws. It is inconceivable in Law to touch or alter our Pension as it is also impossible to alter (let alone abrogate) our Constitution - without the sanction of the People.

Bainimarama and Khaiyum can't fall any lower.

A thoroughly Corrupt and without an iota of shame, this intellectually lacking and a pitiable IP Thief and the author of a FRAUD Constitution, half-wit, habitual liar and a proven signatory to a false declaration, this ludicrous Khaiyum is now giving us lectures on Morality...Ha!

Anyway, the Zero duty on Diaper and Underwear must be appreciated, by some, in the Chor Party cabal - and in the mean-while the People can go-eat Cassava. That’s Khaiyum’s bull-shit, blooming budget.

Why we wonder wouldn’t any amongst our many garment factories do the under-garments?

Import substitution of under-wears is a better good idea than the zero rated tax on under-wears.

Solanki suits ‘em smart, the Puppet and the Puppeteer but forgets their under-wear... salulu?

Zero rated tax on diapers and sanitary/maternity pads may be of paltry benefit if the far more serious matter of WHO standard of patient to nurse in Midwifery at CWM Hospital and elsewhere in Fiji is not met urgently. Are fathers mandatorily expected to attend routine deliveries now? They were when Dr David Lancaster held sway forty years ago. If they are, then they would see why the WHO expects and requires TWO midwives per delivery 24/7: one for care and protection of the mother and one for care and protection of the infant - Fiji's Future. Why is this compliance still lacking 45 years after Independance? It is high time fathers and grandmothers made this the foremost issue of national interest. Utmost transparency has to be met on this and we should say a profound Vinaka vaka Levu to the Fiji Midwifery Society President Aliote Galuvakadua for her efforts. Only 18 midwives out of 50 are available for high intensity duties out of a total of 50: 32 are acting as sisters! This just will not do and the Budget is failing the families and single mothers in Fiji if it does not ensure immediate redress.

Whoever wrote this article doesn't know a thing about economics or is deliberately misleading people. The savings to consumers from the huge 6% decrease in vat can not be nullified by the vat imposition on a handful of items. The author also needs to research to find out what percent of the poor peole's basket did these vat-free items make up. Please stop spreading misleading information. Muslim fundamentalist Aiyaz has done a good job with the budget this time, and there are immense benefits to the people, and also to developing the private sector and cr

Awesome budget do you understand the fundamentals of economics and accounting. If not then please join either USP or FNU to upgrade yourself.

The budget is full of deception and is knitted in such a way to fool the people of Fiji. 2016 budget only benefits the rich and not the poor.

Take for example a person buying $200 groceries. Assume 50% of the items are basic food items such as dhal, rice, flour, cooking oil and kerosene whereas is the other 50% is non basic food items then a person currently pays vat of $15.00 (Take note that vat is zero rated on basic food items in 2015 and 15% on non basic food items). Now in 2016 based on the same assumption a purchase of $200 worth of groceries would fetch a vat of $18.00 (take note of 9%vat as per 2016 budget) now tell me where is the reduction. The vat in 2016 infact has gone up. A poorman earns a mere $2.36 per hour as minimum wage rate as per wages regulation order and 40% of the population in Fiji live in poverty. (Bureau of Stats)

On the contrary a rich person wants to buy a car worth $20,000 would pay $3000 in vat in 2015 but would pay $1800 in vat in 2016. Now who gains? The rich like bai kai and their puppets. Any form 7 level educated person would be able to figure this out.

The power of education is very strong and that is what Fijileaks is doing infact it should have been done by Rajesh Chandra of USP. Remember Educated society can break the circle of red herrings thrown by bai kai and only when majority realizes this in Fiji a revolution will happen. Keep up the good work victor.

My friend, your "assumption" is where it goes wrong. Researches have shown that basic food items (previously vat exempt) make up only 10% of a poor man's shopping basket, in terms of cost. The highest costs are from other items. For instance, if you were to buy $200 worth of groceries for a month, basic stuff such as rice ($12), oil ($7), tinned fish ($10), flour ($11) etc would only make up around $30 to $40, not $100 as you have stated above. The more expensive things are meat, eggs, imported vegetables, etc which make up 70%-80% of the grocery bill. Note that vat was exempt on only 5-6 items, none of which are very costly items. So, now you do the Maths. Moreover, that poor person will make savings everywhere else... On transport, on clothes, on gas, electricity bill, and every good and service that vat applies on. Remember that a poor man just doesn't need those 5 relatively inexpensive items to survive. The poor man also deserves luxury, and this vat reduction would bring some much needed relief.

Besides the flaws in the 2016 budget revealing themselves as always with flawed decrees, Ashtray Sudhakar's constant defiance and mockery continues to flatter as always that he doesn't even realize how he embarrasses himself further this way.

Assneel Sudhakar is another idiot in FFP. He has been taking his tuition on budget from Nur Bano. Since he already took pay cut from 100k to 50k by joining FFP, he should now consult a year 13 student who can teach him how to calculate vat on mortein. This newly acquired knowledge might help him and Aiarse kaiyum to collect correct vat from the owners of supermarket in new Fiji.
